How We Work
Conservation and Restoration

RUN is dedicated to restoring nature across Britain's wild spaces. Working with local communities and deploying tried and tested techniques, RUN works to restore populations of some of our most iconic wild animals. Core to this effort is the reinforcement of wildlife populations allowing them to thrive, and the revival of habitats which for centuries have suffered from intensive use, degradation and fragmentation.

We work collaboratively in partnership with communities, landowners and managers, businesses, schools, charities and government. Our work involves direct conservation action and support, as well as intensive collaboration work across communities, specialist groups and policy development and advice.

Whilst much of our work on Golden Eagles takes place over some of the wildest open spaces of Britain, our work on Red Squirrels takes us into regional and local parks, a wide range of woodlands and of course towns and even cities.

Our Story

We are a young charity, founded in 2024, building especially on the success of our work reviving the Golden Eagle population in south Scotland since 2018, and on our more recent work as part of the Red Squirrel Recovery Network.

Our seven Trustees have expertise in nature conservation, natural and veterinary sciences, farming, banking and chartered accountancy. Additional support comes from a Scientific Advisory Panel with international strengths in social and natural sciences, wildlife health and ecology, technology and policy.

Our team of staff are experts in wildlife conservation and management, community engagement and collaboration, and project delivery.

Partnership working founded on collaboration, listening and evidence-based learning are fundamental to our approach. Enjoyment and sustainable livelihoods founded on the revival of nature motivates us. In these times of a nature-climate crisis we need to strive for landscape resilience supporting rural communities and nature.
